To celebrate the release of the HistorX V1.9 Mod in
time for the Xmas holidays, RaceConnect held it's own
Goodwood Revival meeting on Friday 30th December.
3 Races were held throughout the evening, starting with the low power A0 Class cars, which saw the event dominated by the Apline A110's. Round 2 saw much closer racing in theB1 Class, with a number of cars proving to be competitive. The final race was more about survival, than car speed, with the Ferrari's and GT40's having much more power than grip, which saw drivers having to work hard to keep the cars on the track.
Thanks to all who attended the event, and we'll hopefully see strong grids for the upcoming HistorX series in the New Year.
Held over 2 nights in the week leading up to Christmas, RaceConnect held an rfactor double header event featuring selected DRM Cars, racing at the Nordschleife.
The first 2 Rounds were held on be held on Monday 19th December, with Tiago Malafaya taking 2 wins from 2, and Andy Miller following closely with 2 Second places. With 25 drivers competing for positions, the racing was close and competitive.
Rounds 3 & 4 of the Series were held on Friday 23rd December. Race 1 was dominated by Paul Le Gallez, who lead from flag to finish, with the ever quick Tiago Malafaya not too far behind in second.
On the Nordschleife, Tiago was uncatchable on his way to the flag. Paul Le Gallez and Andy Miller had an epic battle to the line, with Andy edging the encounter by just 2/10ths of a second at the flag.
Tiago took the championship winning 3 f rom 4 of the races, with Andy Miller being the series runner up, but taking the ranking lead into the Xmas break.
In all, 28 different drivers competed over the 2 rounds, and all contributed to an excellent Xmas Event.

The prize will be given to the person with the most points after the 2
rounds (in case of a draw on points then it will be decided on highest
placings and if still needed on combined times )
1st prize is Race injection (steam code)
2nd place is Race On (steam code)
It's accepted that not all drivers will be racing for the prize, as they may already own the Race07 Full Package.
After the short lap at Lime Rock in the last round, the 'Skoda Sprint Cup' is back on Tuesday evening at Laguna Seca, and the bumper to bumper racing promises to continue.
In Round 1, the racing was close and exciting, and saw 10 finishers cross the line on the lead lap, after 30 minutes of racing.
Riccardo Pino, returning to the grid for the first time in a while, returned in style, taking the race win, with Jon Hallas, and Ian Forrow completing the podium.

Round 3 of the DRM Challenge Cup was a first visit for RaceConnect to the Solitude Circuit. The Solitude Circuit has been on the 'sim-racing' map for many
years (initially in GPL), it's only recently been released for rfactor,
and offers a terrific challenge through the wooded roads near Stuttgart.
Thank you to all who were able to support the event. Lims Chebbi ended up mastering 'The Rollercoaster', and taking the top step of the podium, after running a consistent race. Early leader Paul Le Messurier took the 2nd sopt, with Ross Hawkey completing the podium.
The champhionship is closing at the top, with just 2 points separating Lims & Ross, after 3 rounds. The next round sees a complete contrast to the Solitude circuit, with a visit to Reims. With it's long straights and hairpins, the racing should be no less exciting. It's an easier track to learn, so hopefully we'll see a strong grid.

Solitude has been nicknamed 'The Rollercoaster', and anyone running a few laps of practice will realise why. The forum showing cars used to date can be found HERE .
The final round of the 250GTO Trophy, will be held on Monday 21st November, at the Nordschleife Circuit. Going into the final round, Jon Hallas has the lead in the championship, with a very close battle for the runner up spot, between Paul Le Gallez, Paul Le Messurier, & Ross Hawkey.
GTL is an older sim, but in terms of GFX, it's still one of the best. The Nordschleife presents its own unique challenge, and whilst we've not seen large grids, for this round, it's not really too much of an issue, as the battle is more versus the Circuit, than other drivers.
We've seen 12 different drivers support the series so far through the season, and the registration currently stands at 5 for the Le Mans event. On a 4 minute circuit, this will be more than a little lonely.
Registration for round 3 is HERE. GTL will hopefully continue on the calendar, as long as we can keep our core GTL racers, and maybe add a few more. However, rounds for the GTL series will move to Monthly, alternating fortnightly with GTR2.

The penultimate Round of the RaceConnect GT Pro Series, will be hosted by the Mugello circuit in Italy on Sunday. Testing done to date suggests that the GT1's and GT2's could be fairly close in terms of laptimes. The grid is filling well for Runday's race, with the GT2 spaces almost full, and GT1 with a few more spaces.
In the last round @ Dijon, the GT1 event saw Matt Farrow continue his dominance in the Championship, with another strong drive. The final podium positions were taken by Ross Hawkey, and Adam Jamka, who ran a great race, and following his positive results in the CORR Trucks on Saturday, is on a great run of form. Strong points finishes for the Chequered Flag team in GT1, saw them increase their lead in the standings.
In GT2, Nigel Middleton finished in P2, splitting the Blue Spykers of MBP's Paul Le Gallez & Daniel Vaudin, to maintain his lead in the championship. However, unlike GT1, the GT2 Championship is proving to be a much tighter affair. Paul Le Gallez's win, puts him within 10 points of the leader, with Jon Turner in P2, after some steady finishes. Chequered Flag also lead GT2, but MPB, with a One/Three finish, clawed back some of the gap.
Following this weekends race, the final round will be held at the Oschersleben in Germany.
