When i was new to race connect i lost connection every 4 races.
After 6 or 7 disconnects i changed some things at once and had only 1 since then.
I have no clue wich change helped, so i just list them maybe it is useful for someone.

in steam:
settings-downloads-dsl speed 768kbit/sec

in rfactor:
connect-settings-dsl 256k up

I close antivir and reboot my router before the race.

Router settings:
I reduced MTU to 1460.
Maybe smaller packet size has less risk for packet loss (im no expert :) ).

I closed all ports. (all settings to 0)
Corrected time zone setting wich was completely wrong.

Hi Guys,

I keep getting disconnected lately but i foolishly moved from B.T to AOL 2 months ago !!!!

Since then have had nothing but problems, we complained at the end of Jan and the disconnections slowed down but
we still disconnect nearly every day at 6pm and then later that evening ( about 2 per day )

I am fed up and are going to move to another ISP Provider.

Who does everyone else use ???
and what is the best ISP connection for racing ????

I live in North West London if that helps as areas have different speeds.

Ken O'Keeffe.

when i moved to talktalk I had major issues for the first three months, I was told it is a settling in period where they can assertain your exact usage and requirements it has improved greatly. I also found if i didnt use the talktalk software I had a much more stable connection.

If you need to configure you router for wireless conections do that then jsut unistall the software and see if you are able to connect to the internet

I use Virgin Fibre optic broadband, it's up to 10Mb speed, had no problems at all. I live in North London.

I use o2 Ken and I'm in Hackney east london. Moved from Bt last year and have never looked back. Noticed it immediately when i started up rfactor and went online. Server refresh is almost instant compared to waiting sometime 15 minutes for it to refresh when with bt.
Had only one disconnect in 6 months. :D

Oh and thats hard wired to the router. Don't do wireless for racing. ;)
