What would people like for 2021?

With 134 members over at simracing.gp on the RC community site, and 50+ here, you'd think we might get a decent sized grid for any event.

At the moment, on simracing.gp, I can set AC and ACC events (RRE and AMS2 are on the horizon, but I'm not sure when it'll commence).

It seems that Monday racing could be good for people (it works for me), and doesn't clash too much with other events.

With ACC, I can do Historic stuff though limited to original AC content, all AC DLC, and some modded cars/tacks (Modded stuff will be limited as simracing.gp doesn't want to get sued for illegal content, so some of the mods seen around the community won't get added)

I'd like to cater for as many members as possible, but we all know that '....You can't please all of the people all of the time etc......'

For modern stuff, I like the Nurbirgring NLS (Nordschleife), but the turnout was indifferent in the recent events.

For Historic, the only real option is to have single make racing. The 2 races we've run (opening test event Lotus 49 & Ferrari 312, and Goodwood Ford GT40 & Ferrari 330), has highlighted that differing performing cars can hamper close racing.

Personally, I loved the old HistorX mod with a decent grid, where a Ford Falcon, Mini Cooper and Lotus Cortina could all post similar lap times (dependent on the circuit), but all too often it didn't work.

So if a single make series was done, then if the same car was used for say a 4 round championship, and the races were fortnightly, then through 2021, you could fit 6x4 round fortnightly championships.

I agree with Bill, in the standout cars from the recent Goodwood event, though tbh, there was no car that I found a chore to drive, and was never 'happy' to see the chequered flag in any race.

The modded tracks are limited on the system at the moment, so running tracks in 'original' format will be tough (though there are a few)

If we went with the first 4 months with (say) the Lotus 25 for 1 series, and the Ford GT40 for the 2nd, the Lotus' could visit modern versions of tracks (in a Historic Masters kind of manner) like of: Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Zandvoort, Red Bull Ring, or Donington. The GT40's on faster tracks so it could stretch it's legs a bit could also visit maybe: Spa, Le Mans (big track if we had a small grid), Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America.

I'd rather not mix 'new and old tracks' (e.g. Not to drive Monza 66 and Bahrain in the same series), it loses any credibility.

The other option, and it'd be more down the defeatist route, is to look somewhere else to race, and join in their events, as again, with potentially 150+ racers registered with RC, I'm struggling to pull more than 5 to a race.

Marc, just on the post in the other thread. I'm keen not to chase the simracing.gp guys with too many mods, and unless it's on RaceDepartment already, I'm not sure how keen they'd be, but I feel that the AC Legends (whilst great, and I have it installed), won't pass their 'is it 100% legal or ripped from another mod/sim' test.

Any ideas and input welcome.

1. A Tin-top series such as the Escort or Alfa GTAM at National tracks such as Donington, Oulton, Snetterton
2. An open-wheeler series for Lotus 25 on historic GP tracks
3. Some historic endurance one-offs at circuits like Spa and Le Mans
4. Some modern GT stuff at modern tracks (not really my cup of tea so not sure of best content)

Lotus 25 is absolutely blast to drive so that would be my first choice on cars. Not too tricky to handle either like Lotus 49 might be for some peoples opinion (and I also think 25 is more fun to drive). GT40 (agree it needs fast tracks to be fun) and Escort are also great to drive so those would be nice too. Agree that single car is better to not have un-even equipment to race.

I´m no specialist knowing which tracks are legal and which not but if we choose car I can do some testing and suggest some tracks (specially for Lotus 25)

No problem. If AC Legends won't be added to simracing.gp, then at least you have it installed into your game. :)

At RaceDepartment are many great car/track mods to be found, so maybe you can choose from there.

I just go with the flow for whatever you're choosing.

P.S.
I don't own ACC, AMS2 or RRE, so I'm only limited to AC for now. (or rf2 when that game will be added later on)

At SIMRACE247 you can also access their 24/7 server for AC. (rF2 will be added later on)
If you have some time to kill and like to post some laptimes, you can enter their server freely.

You may need to install Content Manager for that purpose.
